R2D8 was a surprise to me! I wanted to offer a rye on WhiskeyDicPicks but was concerned about some of the flavor profiles I've tasted out there... many taste too young, too minty, too herbacious, but not R2D8!
I've always wanted to work with Stellum but when I tried the samples they sent over I was shocked at just how well rounded and refined R2D8 came out of the barrel.
This Rye delivers on Fruits! Peaches and Apricots, baking spices, black pepper and smooth! The smooth delivery may get you in trouble when you consider the ABV is 58.12%.
I'd suggest this Rye for someone who wants to shy away from overly aggressive rye flavor and instead prefers a very high rye bourbon as that's how it drinks.

I got my bottle a couple days ago and tried it. It was really fruity, some caramel. Hard to tell it’s a rye until you sip. Then back of pallete came the herbal and spice. Really enjoyed it.
